THE HEALTH EQUITY RESEARCH (HER) LAB

HER Lab was founded in July 2020 by Director Dr. Omolola (Lola) Adeoye-Olatunde. It serves as an innovative community-engaged research “collaboratory” for the Purdue University Center for Health Equity and Innovation. Since its inception, HER Lab has grown to have more than 20 staff, fellows, college student and alumni members spanning program managers, community health workers, public health and pharmacy graduate students and Doctor of Pharmacy students who all primarily identify as women and/or people of color.

Collectively, we advance health equity by investigating drivers of effective and equitable implementation and provision of community-based health services among populations disproportionately affected by health inequities.

We leverage existing public health information and work alongside communities and community-based organizations across the United States and globally to co-create and evaluate approaches focused on addressing inequities in communities that are under-resourced by meeting them right where they are. These approaches are contextualized by each community’s unique needs, values and culture to improve public health and inform health policy.
